Warilla-Barrack Point SLSC 60th Anniversary
This October we will be celebrating 60 years of patrolling Warilla Beach. Our 1st patrol was in October 1959.

When: The long weekend in October 2019 – 5th, 6th & 7th OctoberFriday Night – we will gather at the surf club to meet & greet new & old members and friends, bar will be open and light refreshments will be provided. Memorabilia will be on display around the hall, along with photos and other interesting tidbits, this is where we get together and start reminiscing about old times, what has been happening, what is happening and generally having a good time catching up.It will also be an opportunity to see the renovations we have been undertaking since our last anniversary weekend (55th). Bar will close at 11pm so we are all fresh for the anniversary dinner on the Saturday night at Warilla Bowls Club

Saturday Night –
Upstairs, Warilla Bowling Club,from 6pm there will be a Photographer (Dee) to take your photos, Dee will also be circulating during the night till 10pm to take group photos, these will be available from our web site a few days later and available for downloading. There will be a few speeches from invited guests, presentation of patrol service awards, Ron Strong will provide in introduction on the publication (“The Next 10 Years”) Ron authored the “Our first 50 Years” book launched at our 50th Anniversary, cutting of the 60th anniversary cake and entertainment from the Platinum Duo who play a wide variety of music. You will be able to catch up with friends throughout the evening.

Sunday – We are hoping to have an official opening of our new extension and renovations, this will be followed by a BBQ lunch. This is also an opportunity to catch up with friends you may have met the night before and did not have enough time to talk, in addition the memorabilia will still be setup for those who could not make it on the Friday.

A few highlights since our 50Th Anniversary (2009)

Alan Beveridge is still the President! The “Tower” is no more – council is building their own tower, ours was dismantled (not considered safe due to rust etc). Over the last couple of years, we have been doing renovations to the building, gym has been updated, toilets completely redone, rooms removed/updated, glass doors inserted in the auditorium. This is ongoing as we rely on grants to undertake works.We received a grant of $350K in 2017, this is being used to extend the Gear shed and create an alfresco area on the Eastern side of the building (yet to be completed) Recently we were advised we received another grant ($199K), this is for the North Eastern part of the building, we will be extending outwards to setup a café/Kiosk area and renovate office, bar area. A few years ago, we purchased a Kubota Tractor to tow the patrol & boat trailer, this has allowed us to extend the life span of our ATV.Membership wise, we went into a bit of a decline, however have now picked up (did have 12 patrols, went down to 9 patrols – starting to pick up again.

Over the past 2-3 seasons we have had a big increase in our Nippers.Competition: we were the Country Champions at the State Nippers Titles held 2-3 March 2019, finished 13th overall (43 competitors from WBP), at the Country Titles (61 competitors from WBP) we finished 3rd and we have won the overall Branch titles for the past several seasons, we only have one boat crew competing this season.Renovation PhotosAdditional information regarding the Anniversary weekendA form for booking tables/seats on the Saturday Night, (we are limited to 220 guests) will be sent out of place don our web page, also we will have T Shirt’s M/F that can be orderedIf you know of any old members or friends who we may have missed, can you please pass et them know.
